From ABC 6 web site:
City officials may soon take a stand against a "stand your ground" bill proposed in Ohio.
A resolution is now being drafted by a Columbus City Council member that will strongly oppose House Bill 203, which would expand self-defense rules, and is currently being debated by state lawmakers.
"We have to send a message to the General Assembly, and say to them this is not the direction we see safety going in our great state of Ohio," Columbus Council Member Michelle Mills said. "It certainly should not be happening in the city of Columbus."
Mills is preparing a resolution that will tell the Ohio General Assembly that "stand your ground" is not welcome in the state's capital city.
Mills would be the latest Ohio city official to speak out against the proposed gun law. Administrators in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Toledo have already voiced their opposition to HB 203.
Ohio's Association of Police Chiefs also publicly oppose the proposed "stand your ground" law.
"The current statute in Ohio, I think, is a nice balance -- and this upsets the balance," said John Gilchrist, who represents the association at the statehouse.
If you are DEFINITELY not going to attend this meeting, simply RSVP "no" to this announcement and you will not receive further emails regarding it.
