The industry, albeit a business looking to make profit from one's imagination and words, has more than its share of unprofessionalism and literary, soul-cratering weasels in it. Don't become that lit soul-crushing weasel. Be honest, fair, show tough love when you need to, and above all else, let them vent if need. And yes, be a cheerleader for someone with a real gift for this. Just because a style isn't for you, doesn't mean it's not for somebody else or another reader. Books literally have saved lives. It saved mine. I pay it forward in exactly what you just read.
I've critiqued before, giving and receiving. But am officially retired from this, having been involved with critique groups since 1990.
YA/NA, a touch literary, mysteries, erotica, UF, paranormal, shorts, flash...and am willing to give Westerns a try if they're not formulaic I have to stick with.
I've completed 2 novels, plotting books 3 & more of a mystery-suspense series, book 1 of an Adult-Only magical mysteries, & enjoy writing flash fiction/shorts. When not writing, I'm also a pro amateur musician in voice, woodwind, & acoustic.
