Ciao a Tutti!
First of all I would like to apologize for the extra emails that I sent out this week. I know a lot of people were waiting for the classes to open for registration so I just allowed meetup to announce them as they became available. I normally only send out that many emails about 3 or 4 times a year (when new classes start)
Just like last week we are only going to focus on workshops and social meetings this week and only very briefly at that.
1. Social Meet-ups
a. We now have social meetups through the end of May scheduled. You can find them all at http://iltavoloitaliano.com/GroupNews/ . There are dances, Italian food workshops, Private parties, an Italian themed dining event where the food will be provided and also our 4th Anniversary (as a group) cookout/party included in the list of things coming up to do. A couple of these events are full and are only taking more people on a waiting list. There are two are three others that I suspect will be full soon as well so if you haven’t signed up for something you are interested in, this is the time to do it.
b. Starting next week I will be working on scheduling the summer social events, If you have an idea or would like to host an event, please be sure to let me know. I would like to find a couple of members would be willing to host pool parties at their home (it is recommended that you actually have a pool).
2. Learning Italian
a. Just in case you haven’t seen or heard yet, almost all of the new classes are now open for registration. The only classes that are not on the schedule yet are the ones to be taught on Saturday morning/afternoon as I am waiting for confirmation from the location where we hope to have them saying “Let’s do it!)
b. Classes to be taught on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are now on the schedule and ready for enrollment. The classes will actually start on April 9th, 10th and 11th and run for 12 weeks meeting once a week each (naturally they break for holidays, etc) We are not quite sure how many people will be taking classes this session as historically spring/summer is slower, however having said that we are coming out of a 3 month stretch in which we had at one time over 100 students and once again we have a large influx of new members signing on. In fact, in the first 2 ½ days of registration we reserved 45 seats at various classes, so having said that, I don’t know if classes will fill up but if you know you want to take a class you may not want to wait too long to sign up just in case they do fill up. We did have to turn some potential students away last session.
i. Class descriptions can be found at http://iltavoloitaliano.com/Workshops/
ii. You can see the classes that are on the schedule now and open for registration at http://iltavoloitaliano.com/GroupNews/ they are at the bottom of the page.
iii. One reason we start registration so early (about 4 weeks in advance) is so if we see a class isn’t going to meet minimum attendance requirements we may opt to either cancel or move that class or try scheduling another class in its place so it does help us if you sign up sooner if you already know what you will be taking (if you are a student at the Italian Table that is)
Finally, we have had a record number of people take one or two private tutoring sessions to either make up for classes that they missed or to help clear up something that was not clear to them in preparation for the new classes. Due to this upswing in activity I do not have as many open time slots as I usually do but if you would be interested in one or a few private tutoring sessions to help get you up to speed for or just to prepare for a class, please email me at [address removed] Please also feel free to email me with any questions about the upcoming workshops/classes.
Ci vediamo presto!
