a new cena in italiano - and how about a 5th anniversary party?

Ciao and Happy Easter!

The 5th anniversary of Il Tavolo is coming up next month, and we must celebrate! If someone would like to host a party (my place is too small, or I’d do it myself!), let me know, or else I will arrange a dinner at a sponsor restaurant. Either way, the date for the 5th anniversary party of Il Tavolo is Saturday, May 18th, so get it on your calendars now.

Just scheduled – the next Cena in Italiano at La Fontana in West Ashley, Sunday May 12th at 6 pm. As usual, feel free to bring any study materials to help yourself feel more comfortable speaking. I know people like to bring their non-Italian-speaking spouses, which is great, but we will let them all sit together this time so that that we can speak Italian together. Grazie! I hope everyone in classes now will sign up and join us!

Coming up first:

*Saturday April 6th at 6 pm, a Silent Auction to raise money for the Italian film festival held in the fall. Tickets are $30. Get more info here.

*Verdi’s Requiem at the Sottile: Friday April 12th and Saturday April 13th. Buy tickets at the box office or on the CSO website and coordinate with other Il Tavolo members to meet up before or after.

*The lowcountry’s first Italian festival! April 27th in Summerville. Get information on their website or on the meetup page. You don’t want to miss it!

Finally, a note on safety which I forgot to include last week. Even though the meetup site tries to keep everything as private as possible, be careful when posting your address. Don’t ever do so in the comments. Addresses in the location of the event are kept private (only members can see), but comments are visible. Just beware! Thanks to Cheri for pointing this out.

Have a great week!

*You can always write me through or you can email me at [address removed].

*Navigate the Italian group’s meetup site more easily: there is a dedicated page listing all current & upcoming classes and one listing upcoming social events.

*Find even more resources on Italian language and culture at

*Go to Il Tavolo’s Facebook page for Il Tavolo news.
