Show a liberal blogger the Beidler Forest Four Hole Swamp

  • October 10, 2010 · 9:30 AM

I have promised to take Will Moredock, the liberal blogger for the Charleston City Paper, on a kayak tour of the Francis Beidler Forest/Four Hole Swamp. He has graciously offered to let me run this trip as a meetup. Conservatives will be required to resist any urges involving liberal pundits, decomposing bodies, and swamps. We will throw in at the bridge near Ridgeville in which the Four Hole Swamp Creek crosses Wire Road (a/k/a Ridge Road, a/k/a S.C. Highway 19). To get there take Highway 61 to Givhans Ferry Road (towards the state park entrance) and then take Givhans Ferry Road until it dead ends. Turn left and the bridge is in about 0.2 miles. You can also get to the bridge from the Ridgeville exit of I-26 but you will need to mapquest it. We will start by paddling upstream as long as far as we can (or until we all get bored/exhausted/consumed by insects). We will then head back. I expect to encounter trees so a plastic boat is suggested. When we get back to the bridge, I may paddle further downstream to the Edisto River (about a half mile) and look for a nice sandbar to swim before paddling back to the bridge. Since this is a non shuttle paddle, folks are free to turn around whenever they feel the need to do so. I have no expected end time. Not sure if my cell phone will work at the bridge but the number is[masked]

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
