New Years Day Paddle!

Start the New Year off right with a Bulow's Landing marsh / rice fields kayak exploration.

The plan:

9:00 am - Meet at Sea Kayak Carolina to carpool / caravan to Bulow Landing.

10:00 am - Estimated launch time at Bulow Landing.

Back to landing between noon - 1:00 pm.

This is a Meetup paddle -- all kayakers are paddling at their own risk and responsible for their own safety.  Lifejackets must be worn, properly fitted and zipped up.  Proper dress required -- no cotton!  Please call or stop by the shop if you have any questions about dressing for cold weather paddling.

Free to paddle with your own kayak.  If you need a rental kayak please reserve on-line here or call Sea Kayak Carolina at[masked]-7969.

Check the latest forecast here.

It was great to start the year with a great group of a dozen kayakers! Tidal notes -- Charleston high tide about 0732... 1000 start right on the nose, and could be delayed up to 45 minutes.

When I saw the weather forecast, I considered not going but I would have missed a wonderful paddle! The scenery was beautiful and the water calm. The rain really didn't do more than slightly sprinkle on us and there was no wind. I got to use my poogies, but put them away since paddling kept me warm.

I've not done much sea kayaking, is this a good one for me to try?

Nicole - Happy (almost) New Year! This trip is very beginner friendly. We avoid cotton clothing in off-season paddling... synthetic base layers, fleece, nylon and wool all better than cotton. Will you be joining us? Scott

This is always a good way to start the New Year! If it's chilly you get to use your poogies!

Are you guys crazy? New Year's Day? Everybody will be hung over and it will be freezing cold! Other than that, I can't think of any reason not to be there. See you at the landing!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
