Charleston Harbor to Fort Sumter

This open water paddle will start from Sunrise Park (aka Demetre Park) and bring us into the Charleston Harbor area. We depart on ebb tide and paddle around Ft. Sumter and land on Cummings Point.

After enjoying the beach, we'll ride the flood tide back to Ft. Sumter for a quick "walk about" and snack, and then back to the launch.

Life Jackets are required to be properly worn at all times on the water. Kayaks over 15' are required for this excursion. This is a meetup paddle and you are responsible for your safety and decisions.

Bring lots of drinking water, sun screen, and snacks too!

We will depart SKC at 2pm to launch at 2:30pm., enjoy our beach walk, and depart Cummings Point after 3:30 pm, returning to the launch around 5:00 pm.

Directions:Take the James Island Expressway to exit #2 and go southeast on Harbor View Road for 4.8 kilometers (3 miles) until the road ends. Turn left onto Fort Johnson Road and go northeast 0.8 km. (0.5 mi.), then turn left onto Wildwood Road. Follow Wildwood Road to the end, then turn left onto Wampler Drive. Stay on Wampler Drive until you see the parking area for Sunrise Park on the right hand side of the road.

Aww, hate to see this one fall apart. It was my last chance to get on the water before January due to holiday schedules. Silly clouds, always getting in the way of a nice paddle!
