Movie & Munchies: Pacific Rim

It's time to watch as robots battle to save the earth against aliens, super-sized, in Guillermo del Toro's new sci-fi flick.

Join us as we watch the battle.

We will be seeing the 1:30 showing at Crown Point, but will meet in the lobby at 1:00, then go in our find the primo seats.

Afterwards, we will be heading out for munchies at Captain Steve's

This will be my first meet up where does everyone meet up? In the lobby?

Yes. Usually some of the people with also be wearing the Charlotte geek button which looks like the Dragon and sword gif at the top of this page. If the resturant was not already picked people meet back in the lobby afterwards but it looks like it's Captain Steve's this time.

Just watched the trailer. A guy says, "Today we are canceling the apocalypse!!!' Guess the water aliens didn't get the memo. Also...Jax from Sons of Anarchy is the lead? Is it just me, or shouldn't he be playing Kurt Cobain instead of a Rock-em Sock-em soldier dude? Looks like the apocalypse might be back on.

Am I the only one that thinks this movie is a cheap rip off of Evangelion?

The more I see about this movie, the more I'm excited for it. This month's digital Wired magazine has a great interview about the physics of imagining 250' tall giant humanoid robots. It's not as easy as taking a human and scaling up the volume, mass, and speed.
