May Geek Bookclub: Ender's Game

How about a sci-fi/fantasy/dystopian/anything else geeky monthly bookclub? SOUNDS AWESOME.

Join us at Park Road Books on May 14th, at 7pm, to discuss a sci-fi classic, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. If you don't already own it, Park Road Books is selling the title for 20% off for bookclub participants.

I've chosen the book for the first meeting but PLEASE bring suggestions for later months - we can decide together what we'll read next!

    • Rachel

      Oh no, maybe next time?

      May 14, 2013

    • Robert

Hopefully. I like the idea of this though, mostly because I own lots of books I have not read yet. Maybe one of them will come up and give me a reason to.

This does sound awesome. Looking forward to it. We'll be spoiling the book, right?

I was hoping to make it, but since I'm still at work, I guess I'll have to shoot for next time. Anyone interested in reading/discussing Heinlein's Starship Troopers?

    May 14, 2013

    • Rachel

I will definitely add that to the ever-growing list - who knew nerds were so well read? :P

Under weather. Really wanted to come. Tried all day to kick the bug, unsuccessful. Please let me know about the next meet. Nick

Had a great time talking about the book and getting back into charlotte geeks. I thought of a few science fiction books to recommend:
Raft by Stephen Baxter (this is book 1 of the Xeelee Sequence)

Rendevous with Rama by Arthur Clarke

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursala LeGuin

    Good Omens by Neil Gaiman

    1 · May 14, 2013

    • Rachel

Will add those to the list. I was thinking about some LeGuin earlier, but couldn't pick which one!
