Verna, I was the hostess for a De'vine lunch on May 3. Barbara was there with her perennial smile. I could see that her color was bad and her stomach was swollen with edema. I asked what was happening with her, and she passed everything off as if it was a temporary condition. She did not dwell on her health. I brought up to the table that she was the author of the very first Microwave cookbook back in 1973......... and she then was the star of the table talking about her whole adventure as an author and a well-known cook. She mentioned several very famous cooks as being friends of her's. We had a happy lunch. She was still at the table with two other friends chatting away happily when I left. My last memory of Barbara is a happy one !! That is the type of person she was. I am happy to have known her. This was sent to you only............ you have my permission to copy and paste it and send to the whole membership, if you like. Take care,Linda
