632We are a friendly, fun, and diverse group of friends in the Canton, Woodstock, Marietta, Roswell, Kennesaw, Acworth and surrounding areas and we want to make new nearby friends (in Cobb County, Cherokee County, and beyond!) We have both singles and couples --we usually have an even mix of both. Most of us are 30 to 65 years old, but anyone is invited to join us. We want to make friends and have fun ( and we want to help you make new friends) with members from all walks of life. We welcome diversity, individuality, and positive personalities.
Some of our 'Meetups' are hiking, kayaking and canoeing, and horseback riding. We attend festivals together like Renaissance Festival, DragonCon, and Zombie Walk Atlanta. We have movie outings, team-trivia nights, card & board game parties, dance lessons and dance parties! We go bowling, bike-riding, play mini-golf, have campfire cook-outs, whitewater rafting, zip-line tree-top tours, garden and historic tours, concerts, classic film events, snow-tubing, and we go on scary ghost tours together. We love to travel --day trips and longer vacations, too. We've gone on 3- to 7-day trips together (including the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic.) We have future vacations in the planning stages now.
Children: Although most of our events are for grown-ups and teens, some are very kid-friendly.
We have nature-lovers, Harry Potter fans, sci-fi/fantasy fans, classic film buffs, dancers, science lovers, video gamers, photographers, and sports fans --members with all kinds of interests and differing religions, cultures, backgrounds, and views. Therefore, we ask that you keep it social and light-hearted at our events -- no religion or politics at our actual Meetups, please. We want everyone in our group to enjoy positive, fun Meetups. If you are with one of our members outside of a Meetup, you are welcome to discuss whatever you like, of course.
Keep in mind we are a strictly-social, non-profit, all-volunteer-run organization.
If you have attended at least three of our Meetups within the last six months (an "active member"), you are welcome to use our Message Board.
If you RSVP 'YES' for an event, please be polite and show up. If you find you can't make it, change to a 'NO' immediately. Don't be a "no-show" --we remove members from the group for repeat 'No-Shows' and for repeat "Day-of-Meetup cancellations."
You will need a credit/debit card as some of our events require pre-payment. (We do make exceptions --ask the host of the Meetup for help if you prefer not to pay with a credit/debit card.)
We remove members for non-participation after about 8 months of inactivity with the group. We are not after the "numbers" of members; we want to be a quality group with engaged, interested members and friends.
When you attend one of our Meetup's, please rate it afterward. Your Organizers and Hosts work very hard creating and coordinating our events. We are all unpaid volunteers. Please be kind -- we are hoping for your 5-star rating and positive, fun comments for each Meetup. Your rating means a lot to us.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP:
1.) On your profile name, put your first name and last initial (or last name.) We do occasionally make an exception --please ask an Organizer about this if you are not comfortable having your last initial show on your Meetup.com profile.
2.) Include a good close-up picture of yourself (similar to a recent drivers license picture, but with a smile) so we can recognize you at Meetups. This will be your main profile picture. You are welcome to put other pictures, too, on your profile, besides this "main" picture.
3.) You must email the Organizers your name and phone # so we can call you to talk with you briefly before approving you for membership in our group. This is a security measure. We want our Meetup to be fun and safe.
Set your email settings for our group where you want them (on your TCCSAG profile page) -- you control how many (or how few) emails you get from us. And keep in mind, if you say "No" to a Meetup, then you won't receive any more notices or reminders from us about that particular Meetup.
Always remember the best way to look for new Meetups is in our CALENDAR VIEW.
Lastly, we are an email/internet-based social group. If you do not check your email at least 2 or 3 times each week, then we prefer you do not join our group. We put up fabulous last-minute Meetups quite a lot, and we make important announcements that we feel our members must receive in a timely manner. If you will only be checking your email every few weeks, then our group is not for you.
TCCSAG is a wonderful place to make new friends, have fun, travel, explore, and adventure. If you look at our past photos and Meetups, you won't believe how much fun we've had together for the last 4+ years. So, join us --come on along for some laughter and to try something different. Have an adventure with us!
