The Chicago Agile Methodology Group Message Board › Michigan State University Research Study - Can you help?
|A former member||
Hi there. I know that everyone is busy, but I would like to request your assistance with a large agile research study that we are conducting at Michigan State University. The invitation with a more in depth description is below, everyone who completes the survey will receive a $5 "thank you" gift in the form of a Starbucks card, and will be entered into a drawing for additional Visa Gift cards (at least 5 $100 gift cards). Organizations that participate will receive a white paper describing the results. Organizations that provide several teams will receive a customized report that describes their results in contrast with the entire study sample.
Please send an email to agileresearch<<at>>bus.msu.edu if you have a team or teams that would be willing to participate, and thanks for your consideration.
The Eli Broad Graduate School of Management
Michigan State University
The Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University is currently conducting a research study on the impacts of agile methodology on delivery success. This study seeks to build understanding of the conditions under which different agile practices, enabling technologies, and management controls are most impactful, and how the various components of "being agile" might interact to become more than the sum of their parts.
We are seeking the participation of approximately 150 project teams that have used agile methods to any extent, from the use of just a few practices, to full adoption and agile transformation, on projects deemed to be successful, not successful, or anywhere in between. For each team, we seek responses from team members of various roles including:
- Technical project team members (e.g., developers, team leads, architects), 3-5 team members or more, if possible
- IT Management (e.g., a person responsible for judging the team's performance) - 1 person
- Business Stakeholders – (e.g., the product owner) - 1 person
Participation in the survey takes approximately 20 minutes for a technical team member, and 5 minutes for a manager or stakeholder.
Organizations that participate will receive a white paper with preliminary results of the study approximately four weeks after the study is completed. Organizations that provide five or more teams for the study will receive a customized report that compares the results of their organization versus the entire study group.
The study is administered in one of two ways. The preferred method for organizations with multiple teams participating is for the researcher to schedule a time to come to the organization and administer the survey to each team. Total administration time for each team is usually less than 30 minutes.
For organizations outside of Michigan, the administration of the survey is accomplished via unique links sent to participating teams to complete the survey.
Each team member that completes the survey will receive a $5 Starbucks or Amazon gift card, and will be entered into a drawing for one of five (5) Visa gift cards.
