Just a note to let you know about our January "kitchen" workshop:
"What is kombucha?", you may ask. Some of you have seen it at health food stores sold at about 4$ a bottle. It is a bubbly, tasty, tea kind of drink. But it is also rich in B-vitamins, glucuronic acid (a liver detoxing acid and an essential body building-block), and probiotics. For taste, it is a wonderful alternative to commercial sodas and juice. Making Kombucha at home is easy and extremely cost-effective when compared to buying it at the store.
David Blood, a local Ayurvedic doctor, will present the unique history, usage & therapeutic benefits of Kombucha. To follow, he will go over the fermentation process (with actual batches in the various stages) and make available, to those who wish to purchase them, starter cultures/mother tea and home-brew kits. There will also be a batch ready to harvest, at the event, so that we can finish it, with some fruits and/or spices, and sample it together.
