keep talking bees

What I like about our group is that we reach out to old, new and wanna bee beekeepers. There's always lots of info, and, hopefully, everyone goes home having learned something useful. This time, we will talk about how our hives are progressing, adding supers, and the Gurnee meeting.

I'm new to beekeeping so I apologize if any of my questions are kind of obvious, but I live down in the suburbs near Orland Park and was wondering, are feral honey bee swarms easy to come by? Or are they rare? Trying to get some bees free next season aha. Thanks!

Good grief. Everyone had so much to share, and I think we all learned a lot. Ran out of time!

This group is the best! Thank you all for your support and help with my issue with Skokie. If any of you know any Skokie residents, have them contact the village trustees and mayor over the next three weeks before bees get the boot.

Someone mentioned a google discussion group, does anyone have a link to it?

Jim Belli can't make our meeting after all, so we'll talk about the meeting with John Hansen, and about our own experiences with our hives this past month. It should be good.

The next meeting, after this 6/9, is Aug. 6.

In case you missed this from: Dale Cooney Swarms with Dr Jim Tews

Don't forget the meeting July 9, Tuesday at 6. John Hansen, lounder of Sweet Beginnings, and Jim Belli, president of the ISBA, will be there. We will talk about ideas from the ISBA meeting:

owning 2 1/2 hives, Larry Connor's method double screens and nucs,
and integrated pest management, Dewey Caron

Jim Belli will speak about the Monsanto meeting. Many at the conference felt the meeting presented the way of the future. A few were worried that Monsanto would take over as they have with seeds. Bring your questions.

As a new father of three hives (all swarms), we'll be glad to see you.

With this crazy year, we will be discussing hive growth, or lack thereof, and swarming. I've been involved with 5 since last Wednesday!

BTW, does anyone know who has 5 hives on a roof in the 6200 block of Wayne in Rogers Park?

I will be late, but will try to catch some of the meeting
