This Saturday, October 13, feature Spencer Savoie follows the 8:00 pm open mic (7:30 sign-up, all acoustic) Ethical Humanist Society, 7574 N. Lincoln Ave. (attached and easy street parking), Skokie. $8 minimum includes refreshments.
Born in Texas, raised in Georgia and Kentucky, and home in Chicago, Spencer Savoie was inspired by Earl Scruggs and Bill Monroe and has been pickin' and grinnin' since the age of 18. His repertoire ranges from traditional bluegrass to middle eastern and gypsy banjo tunes and a bluegrass pirate opera.
During his musical career, Spencer has been a member of Green Mountain Grass, The Firehouse Stringband and Mudbone Possumbottom. He lately fills in regularly for The Grateful Stringband, a Chicago based Grateful Dead cover band, and hosts
a bluegrass jam every other Sunday at The Atlantic Bar north of Lincoln Square. He will be playing the banjo and dobro, a Czechoslovakian instrument. More information at http://www.ethicalhum... or 847 677-3334.
