Funniest meetup ever. I found it interesting how the play attributed the motive to engage in philosophy to the burden of overwhelming debt. I read a book once on the history of debt, and the author noted how the notion of debt permeates religion and philosophy and that debt crises were common in the ancient world. I'd be curious to know in more detail what was going on in Greece when philosophy arose. Could massive debts have alienated people from their communities and caused them to rethink the foundations of their culture, such as their gods? Perhaps The Clouds isn't just a humorous play but contains some important insights about the origin of western philosophy.

Nietzsche: Will To Power 433 (in speaking of the Greeks): "To be reasonable or perish was the alternative before which they all stood. The moralism of the Greek philosophers indicates that they felt themselves to be in grave danger-"

Philosophy became unnatural with Roman reason. Greek reason still had its unity in beauty.

I think my favorite is: #9 Make your opponent angry. An angry person is less capable of using judgement or perceiving where his or her advantage lies.
