Happiness is our wish (but not our choice). The core of happiness is virtue. The core of virtue is choice. Choice involves correct deliberation.

Remind me to ask you guys what you think of Aristotles notion that the fundamental phenomenon of virtue is pleasure, not spiritedness(as in Plato). E.G., virtue is about knowing what to take pleasure in, not about what what to be brave about

The beginning of Book Two relates to taking pleasure in virtue. Self-restraint (Temperance) is not enough if you're wanting the thing for which you're controlling. Self-restraint culminates into virtue when you take pleasure in the practice itself. Hard it is to become good; easy it is to be good.

Yes indeed. Now I remember. I'm still in the begrudging state :)

Would it be possible to extend the scheduled time, if necessary? I believe we did that for some of the Mill readings. If we are locked into a set amount if time, I'd be more in favor of moving a little more quickly through the material during the discussion rather than skipping portions. Obviously neither is ideal

Kay! Sounds good! We will decide on the 4th/5th week. We did add more time to Politics as well and I must confess it drained me towards the end. I always approach going with the flow though. However, as the event host I have to make the difficult decision to skip, so we can move on and not feel so drained. But as always, we go with the flow and determine as best as we can as a group at the time of the meeting. Thanks again and thanks for the understanding!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
