Discuss poetry.

Let us each plan on bringing one page of poetry and talk about some ground rules and guidelines to follow as we go along. I have a fair idea of how to run groups and things of this nature but I always love to hear input from other members on how to improve the process. (And we all know it is all about process.)

I am asking everyone to be willing to read their poems out loud and bring enough copies so others can look at the poem as it is being read out. The reading is meant to serve two purposes: 1) it enables others to see how you view the poem (aurally; ex: where you take pauses) and 2) it improves your own reading -- both in terms of raw reading and getting to be a better performer, as well as hearing how your poem sounds out loud.

We have also in the past have had another member read out your poetry and that leads to valuable insights too.

Having this at a central location in the loop, but definitely open to changing as we figure out where everyone lives. (Because as we will soon learn that place is hopping around 6 PM on a weekday, and we might be better off in quieter environs.)

Oh ok, good! Because I'd have to take the train in, and with todays weather, I wouldn't be able to make it, I'm afraid. I'll pencil this in my calendar for next week.

Belinda, the date is the 25th. A week from tomorrow. It was changed from the original time.

I forgot about the first meeting for this, sorry!! I'd like to come out tomorrow, or asap, but have a lot going on right now. I'd like to start writing poetry again, I haven't in a couple of years - but I have several old poems that need revision, and I've found that revising/editing old stuff is the spark needed to create new work. I'm going to say "Maybe" right now for tomorrow night.

I hope we get return visits and new faces for this next meet-up. Unfortunately I'll be out of town the 25th. Let me know how it goes.

Hi I would love to attend I've been writing poetry for years and been published as well, but with the timing and commute from work I won't be able to make it to the city at 6. As a suggestion can make the meetup event in the burbs ? Or meetup on the weekend perhaps?

    Thanks ;-)
