Let's hike Catoctin! This is one of the most popular local hikes in Maryland. If offers a variety of connecting trails that range from easy to somewhat strenuous. There are many places for great pictures and a few views. Chimney Rocks, Blue Ridge summit, Hog Rock, Cunningham falls and a few more. We will do the full route. There are options for those that do not want to do the full 8.4 miles. If you choose to do less, please bring a map so you will know the route back to the parking lot.

Here is the description of each trail from the park site.

You can print the full topo map and route here:

We will meet at 9am in the Visitors Center parking lot to try to get a jump on the crowds.

Pace: moderate pace of 2.5 miles an hour. Please ensure you can keep up with this pace to be fair to the rest of the group. What to bring: Comfortable clothing, layers, hiking boots or comfortable shoes, rain gear if you have it, at least 2 liters of water, snacks, and anything else you need to be safe and comfortable during a short hike.

Jen- I got to try out my boot "chains", strap-ons, whatever you call them. They are awesome! Will never forget to pack those again. Glad we could share last Saturday. :) Thanks Katrina for letting us borrow yours.

Thanks Katrina for organizing this fun time. Lots of great and helpful folks. Prayer really protected us from doing anything too fancy on the ice. Look forward to the next trip and the laughs and fellowship that come with it.

Hello all!! I am looking forward to a nice walk tomorrow. Please update your RSVP in the event you cant attend. We will wait 10 min for late arrivals. Please contact me if you are coming but will be a little later tomorrow. Bring enough water and snacks based on what you need. And it should be warmer tomorrow so dress in layers. Better to be warm than too cold. The trail is pretty clear of snow, though there may be a few patches of snow and/or ice in the shady areas. The roads will be open to park at the visitors center. If there are any questions/concerns, please let me know. Drive safe tomorrow morning and see everyone at 9am
    !
