The Art of Living Club at MIT presents 'Yoga Remix, Mind-Body Dance Party', a revolutionary new way to celebrate while connecting deeply with your self.
The substance-free party kicks off with a rhythmic, connective yoga practice, then moves into an ecstatic dance party like no other, with an explosive, live dance-rock-chant fusion with the internationally renowned band, Butterthief (formerly Bhakti). It then flows seamlessly into a deep, guided meditation practice. From that space of still awareness, we would be taking a pledge for non-violence and pray for peace in Boston and the world at large. The event then ends on a positive note with more singing and dancing.
For those not familiar with Butterthief (formerly Bhakti):
The band, formed in 2005 in New York City, plays an explosive mix of indie rock peppered with dance and new wave, fused with ancient Sanskrit chants. They put a unique and modern spin on Kirtan, an age-old Indian practice of call and response chanting set to music. The band has performed at the Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, the United Nations, the Bonnaroo Festival and at Jakkur Airfield in Bangalore, India for a crowd of millions. All band members actively volunteer on community service projects and use their music to help harmonize, heal and uplift the people around them.
