Admission: $30.00
Benefiting: mountain volunteer fire departments

Beer and bikes? Bah! Canine adventure and fun in the mountains is where it’s at and we’re inviting all dogs for a day of hilarity, activity, and adventure in the mountains! The Colorado Mountain Dog Festival takes place in Red Feather Lakes onSeptember 28th , 2013 when the aspen will be turning and the temperatures are dog-gone perfect.

The event features hiking, trail running, Frisbee golf, lake swimming for the pups, live music, great food and doggie vendors, plus plenty of free vet checks and speakers on canine well-being such as massage, physical therapy, acupuncture, and many more. Kids can enter the art contest, or decorate their own dog biscuits at this family friendly event.

The festival benefits all of the volunteer fire departments in the Red Feather area who fought the High Peak fire just last year. We appreciate them so much.

What a gorgeous day and venue! So glad we made the drive. Beautiful hike with the beauty of changing aspens to go along with it, and very appreciative vendors at all of the booths. Really memorable day! Thanks for going with us George, Barnaby and Wiley.

The weather report for Saturday is dry and 67 degree high temp. What time is everyone going?

Please check out their facebook site for up to date information. It looks like the event is still on - but check before you go for road closures. Plan on it taking about 2 hours from the Denver area. The fun-run/hike begins at 10 am, so make sure you get there early. I won't be able to make it this year - but report back and let us know how it is!

About is per person, not per dog, and kid's under 12 are free. You can bring as many dogs as you can responsibly take care of. Please, no retractable leashes and no dogs with aggression issues. We want to keep all the pups happy and safe!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
