Quinnipiac Trail circuit hike - Mount Sanford and Roaring Brook

7.6 mile intermediate hike (this hike is not recommended for beginners). This is a circuit hike so we will start and end at the same spot thus no car shuttles!

Dogs are welcome. Bring a leash because that is the rule for this park.

This portion of the Quinnipiac Trail (blue-blazed) traverses a generally northward route across the ridge that frames the western side of the Central Valley in the Naugatuck State Forest. We will summit (a little summit for a real hiker) Mount Sanford, then descend to Bethany Gap.  We will then scramble upward following a rocky ridgeline to the spectacular Roaring Brook Falls.

Our return route will take us along the blue/red blazed Sanford Alternate Trail and reconnect with the Quinnipiac Trail just north of the YMCA camp.

Please do not use the "no" rsvp function unless you need to cancel from a "yes". This is a standard preference for all Connecticut Hiking Alliance Meetups. Other Meetup groups may have a different preference.

We like all of our hikers to remain safe. With that in mind, please bring one of any of the following items:  safety pins, safe deposit box (or its key), life jacket or air bag.

Apres-hike: As always, we will follow the hike with a social outing. IF you are from the area and know of a venue that is a. open on this date during the afternoon, and b. is casual enough for hikers and c. is willing to provide separate checks and have tables that can be joined together, then please make a recommendation in the comment section. We also usually select places that serve adult beverages or allow byob.  If you do not know of a place, no need to post thank you.

Wonderful day with great people and the hike wasn't too bad either. I think we burned a few calories today. Looking forward to future hikes.

I offer up Aunt Chiladas for the après-hike. It's less than 4 miles away and has an outdoor patio. Oh, and really good food too.
