I write non-fiction - essays, commentary, some poetry. I've also done semi-technical writing, such as financial process documentation, and enjoyed that too.
My experience with writers' critique groups is limited to one year in high school. I joined a writers group, which met monthly at the local library. (I was also editor of my high school paper at the time.) This was over twenty years ago. I went on to a career in business and am now developing my writing skills in my leisure time. Writing is a lonely activity and just plain hard work. Being part of a community can both nurture and hold one accountable for doing the work one should and I feel I need both aspects to motivate me to become the writer I should be.
I'm an accountant who loves to write and would like to meet and talk with other writers in the area. Originally from the South, I've lived in the Hudson Valley area four years and love it here!
I enjoyed meeting Allison and the new Steve. Everyone is a thoughtful writer and it was pleasure to hear and read the work brought by each one.
