Creative Writers Ambler Meetup

At this Meetup, we'll gather as a group to share our experiences with writing during the month. We'll share ideas and resources and offer encouragement about writing and the process of developing our projects - for ourselves or for publication. We'll also take some time to do writing prompt exercises or other fun writing activities as a way to increase our spontaneity, gain energy and inspiration, and have fun together. If you have writing that you'd like to share, please bring copies with you. We are always happy to celebrate the positive in the work we review and to offer constructive feedback where invited. If you have ideas for fun writing exercises we can do together, please bring them! We will be meeting once per month, on the 2nd Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. If you want to suggest additional times and places to meet, please know you are encouraged to do so. This is a community for all of us!

Fun as always and with the new writers this looks to be a great year to get focused on our craft. Thanks to everyone who made it out and looking to see you at our next meet up.

Yes. Typically, Bobby or I will provide a prompt for writing between times we meet - then we share what we wrote (or a different writing sample) and give one another feedback and encouragement.

Here is the prompt we picked tonight from Storymatic for the January meeting: Combine the following to create your main character: "police officer" and "person who did something bad a long, long time ago." Let the following two cards lead you into a story: "cherished toy" and "bounced check." Only two rules are these: (1) your main character must change from the beginning of the story to the end of the story, and (2) do not kill your main character. Those are the rules from Storymatic. If you really want to kill off your main character, I'm okay being flexible with that rule. Just save it for the end. :-) Have FUN!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
