Anyone that has not received a copy of our guidelines for critique please go to the pages and read before attending our meeting. Hard copies are available upon request. It's good to have a meetup group like this one in Everett. Local talent is abundant.

Thank you everyone who attended tonight. Glad to make your acquaintance. This old goat doesn't get out much, so it's makes for a nice change.

I have uploaded my prologue and chapters 1-4 of my novel to dropbox if anyone feels like giving me some feedback. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated :)

Just finished reading your story. It is interesting. I like your characters. I can share with you more on Thursday on a couple of minor things I noticed. Other than that, I think it will be a good read.

Just a reminder since the meeting is fast approaching, but the group's lending library is open for business! Just refer to our list here: http://files.meetup.com/6702042/Creative%20Writing%20Group%20Lending%20Library.xlsx

And let me know by Wednesday if you'd like to borrow something.

Also, still got a bunch of other books to give away if anyone's interested in what's left : )

Mike, much as I enjoyed my first meeting, can you remove me for the time being - until I can find where my muse has hidden itself. Thanks. Connie

Sorry I can't come to the meetups lately, I've had drum line rehearsal.

Curse you life, for interfering with meeting attendance stats!

As a general note to everyone, if you put something in the Dropbox that you want people to look at, be sure to let everyone know either by posting it on the next meetup comments or making a post on the Critique Corner board. Or do both, like me!

No problem, I'll just save it to your folder when I get done with it. But I remind everyone I have two jobs, a toddler, and writing of my own, so I may not be very speedy.

    • Samuel

I know that you might need some extra help with getting things done... I won't pressure you to finish any faster. Take your time.

Dropped Nobody Dies Today in my folder in Dropbox if anyone wants to take a look at it. Of late it's been kind of a pain in the butt for me to update it with each successive draft, so I've just been dumping the first draft in Dropbox and iterating it offline for a few months now until I file the final version as a PDF in my Completed Stories folder.

So it's kind of a fun experiment to read my terrible first drafts and see if I don't come to the table with something more polished by the following Thursday : )

Do you want feedback or is the reading just for general interest? I will definitely be reading it!

      May 23, 2014

    • Mike

I never say no to feedback : )

      May 23, 2014

  • Samuel

Don't know if I'll make it again... sad to say, but it's true, due to issues my method of transportation has with getting there.

On a side note, if Mike (or anyone else) would like to look over my chapters in the "Stuff for regular critique" folder in my folder in the shared Dropbox folder, I'd appreciate it. I also plan on going to an original story as soon as I possibly can (been meaning to go original for a rather long time) and sharing it with you guys.

    May 15, 2014

    • Mike

I promise I'll take a look, but if you're wanting the same level of detail as the first half, it takes a while : )

      May 16, 2014

    • Samuel

Understandable. Thanks for pointing that out.
