March DC CQ5 Meetup

Our March CQ5 Meetup will be held at an office building of the National Gallery of Art in downtown DC on March 27th from 6 to 8 pm. Pizza, snacks and beverages will be provided. Please pre-register for the event on the Meetup site, only pre-registered attendees will be allowed entry into the building.  The building we are meeting in is located at 601 South Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC.  It is NOT the main building for the National Gallery of Art, it is an office building on Pennsylvania Avenue.  It is the white office building next to the red corner building of 6th Street and Penn which is the Capital Grille.

Schedule:

5:45 to 6:00 - Attendees Arrive - Eat Pizza, meet others that are using CQ5 and discuss your recent projects

6:00 - 6:30 - CQ5 does daily optimization to keep the repository clean, but in a clustered environment connected with LDAP, node corruption and repository out-of-synchronization will sometimes lock the application. Possible solutions will be shared and discussed to address these issues. Presented by Refeng Wu of Pragmatics, Inc.

6:30 to 6:45 - This demo will show off the initial integration of Adobe’s Hybris eCommerce connector which was created by Marcel Bouche at Adobe. Marcel embedded a Hybris server inside of CQ and connects via basic Hybris APIs to CQ which adds real life functionality to the standard Adobe demo site, Geometrixx Outdoors. Crown’s staff enhanced some parts of this integration to make for a more full service integration. Product information can be updated, carts can be viewed by a fictional customer support staffer and orders can be placed that generate a confirmation email sent by a basic ExactTarget email template and their default API for exposing email templates for transactional email. Presented by Ross Raphael of Crown Partners.

6:45 to 7:00 - Component coding best practices, and how best to design "fragment" content resources that are reused in multiple places. Presented by John Dorrance, independent CQ5 consultant.

7:00 to 7:20 - "Lessons Learned" from the National Gallery's CQ 5.5 implementation. Presented by David Beaudet of the National Gallery of Art.

7:20 to 8:00 - 5 top new features in CQ5.6. Presented by Elliot Sedegah and Brian Paget of Adobe.

We hope you can make it!

Does anyone have experience removing "/content/appname" from the path? I received some suggestions from Day support about how to do this, but if there are pitfalls to avoid or unintended implications people can share, I'd sure appreciate it.

And there's always mod rewrite! :P

Yeah, there are certainly a lot of tools at our disposal. I guess I'm wondering of all the available options, is there a tendency to choose some over the others and for what reasons? The available tools seem to be mod_rewrite, mod_proxy, apache aliases, sling redirects and sling resolver configurations. Removal of /content seems straightforward with a resolver, but what about removal of the app name as well? For example, would the removal of /content/ngaweb/ from our existing paths make it difficult or impossible to create another app in the future or does it mean we have to manage all potential first level paths through specific configurations?

I converted my CQ5.5 Lessons Learned to a prezi - excluse the formatting, but the content is all there.

We were only able to (quickly) show 5 of the top 10 AEM 5.6 (CQ) features last night. If you'd like to seem them all, you can view an on-demand presentation here:

Excellent presentations on a wide range of topics from server management, development, and lessons learned from a CQ implementation. Squeezed a lot of information into 2 hours - again excellent session.

John D. thank you for posting your presentation. Other presenters ... can you also post a link to your presentations?

Very interested in topics. Just gone thr' 5.5 upgrade and realized ongoing optimization would have significantly helped. Also we are looking at eComm platforms. Would like to see the Hybris interface. Is there any way to connect with the presenters outside of the meetup - as I will NOT be attending the meetup. We are based out of Harrisburg, PA. Is there a web conference option?

    March 20, 2013

    • Jeremy F.

There will not be a web conference, but all presenters should also be Meetup members, I believe you can find them on the Meetup site and email them from there
