Kickoff to Copenhagen 2009!

1905 (map)

Selected By: Monika

Want to know more about what's happening in Copenhagen for the COP15 climate change discussions? Then join The DC Green Connection and friends at CarbonfreeDC for a celebratory kickoff and festive holiday event. Get the inside scoop from Nicholas Sundt, communications director for World Wildlife Fund's Climate Program and learn what's on the negotiating table at Copenhagen. In addition to enjoying Restaurant 1905's intimate vibe and tasty organic beers, spirits and sustainable food samplers, you'll get to meet lots of other greenminded Washingtonians, Climate Riders, and even get a start on some eco-friendly holiday shopping!

Thanks to donations by local green businesses we'll have a small silent auction with proceeds going to support CarbonfreeDC’s efforts to green low-income neighborhoods and offer their free workshop series as well as to promote the DCGC mission of educating consumers and growing the green economy!

Much Gratitude to Donations From:
Atayne: Environmentally sensitive, high performance athletic apparel
Cookology: Recreational cooking school, “date-night” class for two
Core Connection Lifestyle: Lifestyle Balance and Wellness Consultation with Takeyah A. Young
Eco-Green Living: Eco-apparel, comfort-wear
Even Keel Yoga: Stylish bamboo & organic cotton blend yoga pants
Greater Goods DC: Klean Kanteen, BPA-free water bottle
Green Living Consulting: Green Cleaning Starter kit & 25% Discount on Eco-home Assessment
Herban Lifestyle: Earth-friendly bath & beauty basket
Jennifer Kaplan: “Greening Your Small Business” book
Thinknow design: Eco-fashion jewelry with simple elegance
TWOVital: Sustainable sculpture for LEED buildings or your home

Thank you to Sacha Cohen of Grassfed Media and Donna Childress of We Love DC for helping me promote this event!

Additional gratitude to this event’s host committee & volunteers: Cherlyn T. Jones, Donna Childress, Sacha Cohen, Matthew Banks, Thom Wallace, Rhys Gerholdt, and Catherine Fahey (invite designer)

Tickets: $15 General, $12 DCGC Members*. We are able to offer you this event at such a discounted rate thanks to the generosity of 1905 owner Tony Lucca who believes that going green is good for us, and for business. Your ticket includes 1 drink & appetizers. Drink specials include select organic vodka, beer and wine. Appetizers are locally and sustainably sourced. Chef Matt will speak to us about 1905's green practices. You can pay by cash or check at the door.

*Members are those who've attended past DCGC events.

Directions: 1905 is on 9th just past the intersection with U St. Take U St. Cardoza Metro to 10th St. exit and walk 2 blocks east on U, turn right on 9th. 1905 can be hard to see, but it's above a wine store and diagonal from DC9 Club. Street parking also available.
