On January 1, DC put into action the nation’s first 5 cent fee on disposable carryout bags—with 3 - 4 cents from each bag going toward clean up efforts on the Anacostia River, once one of America’s most polluted (and most forgotten) waterways. So how is the new fee working? And what makes the Anacostia so special? Join the DC Green Connection and friends on March 27th for a double feature event: Short Films and After Party! If you can't make the films, just join us for the party after! Click on the green links below for more info.......

By coincidence, a friend send me this link today to a short film called "Plastic Bag" where the character of the bag is voiced by the incomparable Werner Herzog. No joke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDBtCb61Sd4

It's excellent film. The director Ramin Bahrani's feature films are Man Push Cart, Chop Shop, and Goodbye Solo.
The futurestates.tv website has a good lineup of more enviro short films by other new young directors.
