Being offended seems to be in the news a lot and as philosophers we know for any such thing there is an object separate from the subject so in terms of being offended there are those that offend and those that are offended.
We will explore what it means to be offended or to offend then to relate this act to reality so we can better understand what it is and better yet how we should think about the offendees, the offendors and the nature of the offending act.
We will consider how this can be an effective tool in the political arena as well as well as in the political arena and anyone who has watched an NBA game will realize sometimes people over react to a slight bump.
Our goal here is to better understand the nature of offense in our culture today, whether it is too much, too little or just right (to quote Aristotle and Goldilocks) will be your individual judgment but based on a better understanding.
I will add some links to some philosophic thought on this interplay between people later.
