Alcohol Inks and Stencils!

At the December meetup, Linda, Lisa and I looked through the Nov/Dec Cloth Paper Scissors and found a few projects we really liked.  One was the needle felting that we did earlier this month.  I think everyone enjoyed it and I even ended up with a few small pieces that I can use as an embellishment on something.

The second project can be seen here:  http://www.clothpaperscissors.com/blogs/clothpaperscissors/archive/2012/10/25/cloth-paper-scissors-november-december-2012.aspx

Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a GREEN square with words including YOU stenciled on it.  That is our project for February.  That could so easily be red instead of green with Love and stenciled on it!

Meg is going to have the boards cut for us.  I will find out how much they are in the next day or two.  Small pieces of plywood about 8x10.  We will gesso, ink, stencil, etc.  I will post a supply list this weekend but we probably have most of what we need or Googly Eyes does.  Nothing expensive.

Please RSVP as soon as you can so I can make sure we have enough of the boards.  I am starting with 10 but if we need more I need to know soon.

Time is going by quickly!  See you soon.

It was a great springboard to work with them. Also never know about baby oil and pastels~ very interesting. Thanks for teaching about all that.

I had fun! Kathy kept trying and really did a fabulous job at the end. I am going to try again just to get used to th alcohol ink colors.

Thanks, really enjoyed the project and the company. I'll try experimenting further with this resist technique. Sharon

Loved seeing everybody! I promise if you weren't crazy about what you did, try it again. I wasn't crazy about anything I did the first couple of times. Now I love alcohol inks!
So happy to have Sandra, Jamie and Brenda join us for the first time. Have a good weekend.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner I was out of pocket last night. Chicken wire will be a little too big. I have 1/2 in hardware cloth and it is even a little too large, but If ant one wants to use it I have extra pieces cut.
I will also post a picture of my practice. See you tonight.

I got both plastic & wire kind. I made it to store just in time before closing. I won't be at class right at 6:30 but I hope to be there by 7pm. This project looks cool.

I will bring chickenwire. I will pay you if I could use some of the hardware cloth. I know it's kind of expensive. I will bring wirecutters.

Looks like Lowe's has it. I'm going to make a trip now since close by. Could we use screen? I have screen. I'll probably try to bring both.

Could we use chickenwire instead of the hardware cloth?

Did anyone find or have the hardware cloth? I had some long ago for my art class, but my husband used it to surround a plant in the backyard. It's like chicken wire, but it's heavier and is squares instead of hexagons.

If I am late by 15-30 min, will I be able to finish?

Supply list for Friday--Alcohol Inks and Stencils

Gesso primed board---Meg will have the boards. You will have to prime and dry. She has a hair dryer to speed things up.

    Sandpaper
    Gesso
    Foam brush
    Mod Podge
    Alcohol Inks
    Spray bottle filled with alcohol
    12 (why 12 I don't know) small fabric scraps
    Oil Pastels
Hardware cloth---this is probably the only thing you don't have and Googly Eyes doesn't have. Don't worry about it.
    heat gun
    baby oil
    stencils
    Alcohol blending solution

Don't worry if you don't have all of this. Bring what you have, share what you can, buy something at Googly Eyes. I know they have the alcohol inks, mod podge, stencils (Linda already bought some) a heat gun we can use, sand paper, foam brushes, not sure about the oil pastels but probably and some of us have a good selection

First of all, I am not sure I can make it Friday night. Every time I think I have some extra time it seems that I have less. I will do my best but it is not looking good right now. See the next post for the supply list. I was going to pick the boards up early and have them ready but now that doesn't seem like such a good idea since I may not be there. Maybe someone can go a little early and cover all of the boards with gesso? I will call Meg to get the cost and settle up with all of you later. Next post will be the supplies.
