Art Journaling - More fun with Alcohol Inks

At our fourth Friday meet-ups, you are welcome to work on your own individual project or participate in the featured tutorial for the month. This month we will be having more fun with alcohol inks.
As we discovered at the last Altered Art Meet-up Alcohol inks work great using a resist method on canvas or wood. But, they can also be used with many different products to create colorful ephemera, jewelry or journal pages.
In my absence this week Annette has graciously offered to do a 'Show & Tell’ with my Alcohol Ink samples and conduct a tutorial on creating a necklace using alcohol Inks and a metal washer. Heather will talk about using Alcohol ink markers in her artwork and Meg will demo a line of new alcohol ink pens (Spectrum Noir). Even with all this Annette says there should still be plenty of time to work on individual projects or she will do a second tutorial.

So here's this week’s supply lists

For Annette's first tutorial please bring:
A metal washer - Find them at a hardware store or harbor freight.
A lariat, chain to strap to hang the washer on and your Alcohol inks
If you want to stamp on top of the ink, bring Staz-on or Archival ink, rubber stamps and Diamond Glaze or Mod Podge.

For the second tutorial you'll need
Alcohol Inks
Felt and sponges
Tags, Foil or Plumbers Foil
A heat tool
Seam binding - that you can color with the inks.
Embossing folders (Annette will bring some along with her Big Shot) and
Any embellies you might want to put on the tag.

If you want to work on your own, How about trying on of these ideas:
Color old book pages to use as journal pages or backgrounds
Color tissue paper with alcohol inks and then stamp with archival ink.
Layer your alcohol inks on top of one another to create color rings.
Blow air through a straw on alcohol ink droplets (Use glossy paper)
Dip or drown plastic and metal ephemera. (tags, buttons, grommets)
Coat the insides of glass bottles or Christmas ornaments.
Decorate ceramic tiles to use as coasters, seal with Mod Podge.
Dye a dominos, buttons, wooden spools, or silverware.
Create a marbled look by dipping paper in a tub of inks and water.
And finally ....... Use a paper towel to wipe up spilled ink and then use it in a collage.

Thanks - and Happy Inking!    Linda

Meg sells inks individually so you can choose the colors you want. I like that better than the 3-pack. She also has the blending tool, felt pads and solution if you need it.

Just for my information, are the alcohol inks available at Googly Eyes? That would be a way for me to help support the store, since I don't already have any. Thanks.
