  • Kits

Barrel kits will be available at all but the Commercial classes. You can come to an introduction to Aquaponics or one of the “build” class and leave with a kit ready to assemble, just add the pump, controls of your choice, and some fish, to have a system ready to grow

55 gallon plastic barrels are available for $25 each. You may be able to find them cheaper but make sure they are food grade. Some of our barrels do not have the 2 plugs with them, which you will need to build the One Barrel Aquaponic System. You will not need the plugs if you build a Travis Hugley Barrel-ponics system.

Raft way liner is available for $1/sq ft and comes in 12’ minimum width. So the minimum quantity is 12’x1’ for $12. Just tell us how long a piece you need.

Supplies are available at most meetings.

Email us if you would like to make sure we will have what you want and tell us which meeting you will attend to pick up your supplies.

What's the best way to get started? I like to learn by seeing real systems live rather than reading online. Is there a location around the Richardson/Garland/Plano area to see an active system in action?

Onions in the ground, tubs on the stands awaiting warmer weather, fish in the hot tote with good water ready to pump. Quail starting to lay, trays sprouting now.
Nature doesn't wait for meetings. My task is to feed the world, so ask your questions and if I can help, I will.
You can start anytime, with what you have!

If any of you live in the San Antonio, Austin area, and really anywhere else, there are other meetup groups that are active in Aquaponics. Feel free to join them. It is becoming urgent that you learn how to grow your own food and FAST!

Would like to see if this system could possibly work for me. I am a mother and I work so I don't have a lot of time left over for gardening but I have heard that this system should only take 20 min a day to maintain.

    July 28, 2013

    • Casey b.

Yes it would work for you .i built one for my grandma an showed her how to use it and she has it full of veggies and maintains it an yes not even twenty min

      July 28, 2013

  • Frances W.

Curious to see what this is all about. Hopefully after attending a meeting I will be able to understand what the fish have to do with it.

    July 26, 2013

  • Robert S.

would like to attend first meeting to see what is involved to provide a system suitable for the high temps here in North Texas
