What are you interested in, hobby gardening, self sufficiency gardening, community gardening or commercial farming (or all of these)?

We are in the early stages of retirement planning. We are interested in self-sufficiency gardening, and after a recent visit to Costa Rica (a possible retirement location), we saw a great reason for learning about community and/or commercial applications as well.

What gardening/farming experience do you have?

Very little. My early years were spent in the country and my parents usually had a small garden. I hated hoeing and weeding the garden as a child.

What makes aquaponics interesting to you?

We are interested in the health benefits of organic food, and the potential cost savings of growing our own food...especially if food prices continue to increase, or if food supplies were interrupted.

My name is Tom Wallace. I am 60 yrs. old and I work as an accountant. My wife, Kayla & I have been married almost 13 years, and between the two of us, we have 6 children and 10 grandchildren.
