Overcoming Approval Addiction using REBT and CBT

Dear Meetup members,

How often are we behaving as though we are desperate for love and approval?  As though rejection would topple us to the ground?  How would we behave if we didn't believe that idea?  How might this get us closer to true connection?

In this meetup, we'll talk about approval addiction.  We will also spend some time on what Dr. Albert Ellis called "The Dire Need for Love and Approval," including suggestions he had for overcoming it.

Please RSVP now to learn more about these topics!  We will be meeting from 3 to 5 on Saturday, May 5, 2012.  (There is a $10 charge to attend, please bring exact change if you can or pay via check or paypal.)

Thanks for your interest,

Pam Garcy, PhD

Very enlightening. I am pretty much an approval addict and I learned some things to tell myself to help with this. I have a better understanding of my irrational beliefs and what I need to do to start changing them.

There was a lot to say about this topic, but we managed to get through it all! Good job to the group for their thoughtful questions, comments, and sharing personal stories.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
