This photo screams lines, directionality, and perspective and I find it very interesting. It has to be done in post—there's nothing you can do when shooting to prevent barrel distortion (lens dependent of course and most typical of wide-angle zoom lenses at wide aperture). Notice how in the foreground there's a tendency to have objects push outward. The FENCE on the front left we KNOW is not leaning TO the left, but it appears to be. The same could be said for the tree trunks in the right background. Applying lens correction in Lightroom or Photoshop might be able to correct for the effect; DxO Optics Pro SURELY can. The one thing you CAN do when you know you're likely to have barrel distortion (or the opposite—pincushion distortion) is to compose your photo in such a way that your subjects will not be clipped [cut off] when adjusting the photo in post. @Ellen - Look at your first two photo posts in this album and you'll see barrel distortion from a more straight-on angle. all true-and I always love to learn new stuff- however- I have no post processing software... some day... right after I get an SLR. HOWEVER - I must stop ignoring my corners Thanks for reminder- I read once our brains do not consciously register them
