Hi Folks, The War of the Worlds (good choice, I'd forgotten how good it was!) is available from Project Gutenberg, or http://manybooks.net/....

How did you get that? My kindle store wouldn't sell it to me...

I am Legend is so short, I think it took less than 3 hrs to read.
Sorry Maureen, I did not notice your question. You can get ebooks from many sources, they do not need to be from the kindle store. Just send it via USB cable. I use Calibre for sorting out my non amazon books.

We have so many books now maybe we should start drawing the names from a hat. I might have put some long books in the short list and vice versa due to ignorance about the books if so let me know and I will rearrange them. Thanks
List of upcoming short books: The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Frankenstein by Mary ShelleyThe Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis StevensonDownward to the Earth by Robert SilverbergStarship Troopers by Robert A. historical- Birdsong Sebastian FaulksSome of these books might be too long for this list and if I have forgotten any sorry and go ahead and add suggestions.
For any new people to avoid all that awkward "hello are you the meet up group" talk to random strangers and because the Gresham lobby is quite large i'll be the one in the very fashionable leather jacket in the alcove, left when your first enter the hotel.
Hi Maureen, it's available on line at
Ok! I haven't read the book (yet) just watched the movie. Would that count !
Sorry, what will be happening?
If we have read the two books we will talk about what we thought of it. After which we will talk about everything else sci-fi (that is usually what happens).
I am interested to join, but what will be done in that meeting if I may ask ?
I'm on the fence about getting a Kindle, sure makes getting and reading the book easier but then I wouldn't really own the book and be able to fill up all the boxes I fill every year...
If you are like me, you will get a kindle and the want rid of all the bloody books taking up every inch of space in the house.
Well I plan to read I am Legend this weekend and haven't been able to find a copy of Andromeda Strain in a bookshop so I probably won't be reading that...you won't be alone!
Does it matter you haven't read both books?
As with work schedule I didn't get around to reading 'Andromeda Strain', but I did read 'I am Legend'.
Hopefully I can actually attend this one, since I love 'I Am Legend', and I've been meaning to read 'The Andromeda Strain' for ages.

What's this all about?
There are currently no sci fi / fantasy groups in Dublin so this is an attempt to rectify that.
Who should join?
Anyone with an interest in anything sci fi / fantasy / horror / etc related should join. Ah go on!
Why not ;)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
