Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson star in an intense crime thriller set in a lawless future Australia. A decade after "the collapse", the Australian outback has become a wild, anarchic place populated by armed, angry and desperate men. When loner Eric (Guy Pearce) stops for a drink at a dilapidated roadside bar, a speeding pickup truck containing three armed robbers spins out of control. The trio - American Henry (Scoot McNairy), New Zealander Caleb (Tawanda Maryimo) and Australian Archie (David Field) - promptly steal Eric's sedan and burn rubber. He sets off in hot pursuit, traversing a parched, detritus-strewn landscape until he runs across the wounded fourth member of the gang: Henry's slow-witted brother, Rey (Robert Pattinson). This searing, atmospheric, 'Mad Max'-style dystopian odd couple road movie was developed from a story by actor Joel Edgerton. It is director David Michod's follow-up to the equally gritty, Oscar-nominated 'Animal Kingdom'.
