Madurodam "prime lens" photo challenge.

Update: July 28th

OK so I'm not able to attend to this meetup but that shouldn't stop you guys in going right?

This is what I recently found: a entrance ticket for Madurodam incl. a return train ticket for only € 25!!!

On another note, I'm looking for someone who's interested in hosting this event. It's not a lot work it's just gathering the troops at the start and make plans for drinks/bite.

Have fun!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adriana came up with the idea to go to Madurodam in The Hague. I've had this on my mind for a while too but didn't have the time to set something up.

Hereby I'm going to make time to make it happen but not without adding a challenge to this shoot . I think this location would be perfect to use only prime lenses, so NO ZOOM!!! (if you don't have a prime lens, just force yourself to use your lens at only 35 or 50mm ... NO CHEATING PLEASE, LOL)

Instead of using the zoom on your lens to get the object closer to you it's YOU who needs to move closer or further away from the object. Lets see if you can still make that shot you would normally take when using your zoom function.

This meetup will be great for macro photographers and people who would like to challenge their photography abilities

Hei... I've also just uploaded a couple shots from yesterday's MeetUp. I only had the 60mm so the photos are a bit limited to that. Still, I'm quite happy with the result. You can see them on my Flickr account here: http://bit.ly/MGoR47

Also, I've recently updated my photo website, if you want to check it out, you can find it at http://www.luismonteiro.eu, more photos to come soon.

Thanks for organizing it, it was great.
See you on the next one.

The Amsterdam Pride Canal Parade is Sat 4th August starting 2pm. I can't suggest it cos I have visitors now that weekend and wouldn't usually arrange something to clash with someone else's event. But here's the link anyway (http://www.amsterdamgaypride.nl/canal_parade/) just in case you want to change the date of Madurodam so I can also attend that :-)

Isn't the Gay Pride this weekend? It was today in Haarlem....

@Adriana, I well familiar with Rootz ... especially with the 70cl bottles of beer :-P Luis, I think the 30mm might be a bit too wide for this location, so yeah I'd suggest to go with the 30mm. It will also depend on your crop factor of course. In regards to the Gay Pride Parade, if you want you can suggest it as a photo meetup ;-)

Hey I think this clashes with Amsterdam Gay Pride Parade which is also fun to photograph...

What kind of photography are going for? I have a 60mm and a 30mm to choose from. Would like to know what would be best suited for Madurodam as I've never been there. Although I'm guessing that a 60mm macro will do the best job.

Hi Karno, I have a suggestion for a bar in Den Haag where we could finish this tour, its name is Rootz, they have mostly Belgium beer, and it's very close to the station, for those who have to take the train back home.

Hmmm 105 is pretty big, I think 85mm is the max I'd use. I've only got one option a 50mm ... I just have to decide if I use a 1.6 or a 1.3 crop factor.

I'm thinking of bringing my 105mm f2.8 macro. Bring it on!

yups, of course you can use your 18-55 lens, as long as you use it at one fixed position, otherwise it wouldn't be a challenge ;-)

    July 2, 2012

  • Adriana

Hi Karno, can I just use my 18-55 lens at 50 mm?

    July 2, 2012

  • Kami-Karno

LOL! switching primes would be the same as using the zoom on your lens! So in your case I'll keep an eye on you that you don't switch lenses :-D

    July 1, 2012

  • Bas Bash P.

And you want us to only use one Prime lens or is it allowed to switch between the Primes?
