A showing of Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days

This location is shown only to members

We will be showing Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days (Feature Selection at the Newport International Film Festival), an inspiring film about the journey of 6 people who reversed their diabetes through an all raw diet at Gabriel Cousens’ Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center, a world-renowned natural healing and spiritual center in the high desert of southeastern Arizona. I am also excited that Michael Bedar will be there to introduce, discuss and facilitate a Q & A after the film. Bedar directed previous award-winning documentaries (Ecoparque), and as media liaison to the Tree of Life, played a role in establishing the concept of Simply Raw, selecting the crew from pre-to-post-production, and guiding the message we see in the documentary today. I am hoping to be able to offer some ginger-beer as refreshment, and at our venue there is complimentary tea. There is no fee for this meetup.

Michael will also have the film available for $30 and a 2 disc set of recipes, tips, demos, and interviews for $30- Both will be on hand for $55.00

More about Michael Bedar:

  • Bedar completed the 27-Day Live-Food Nutrition Intensive in the Tree of Life Spiritual Nutrition Mastery Program, plus two years review of research and literature in the field of Live-Food Nutrition. Bedar also holds a B.S. from UCSD.
  • Bedar is also committed to lifestyle foundations and spent an additional year of study to reach initiation into the Essene Way. The Essene Way is a way of viewing of the microcosm within us and the macrocosm of the world we live in as reflections of one another. It involves living in oneness, service, healing, teaching, creating peace by being peace, and the transformation of the whole person.
  • At the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center from 2004-2009, Bedar progressed to serve as a meditation facilitator, live-food nutrition and conscious lifestyle class teacher, group process support guide, media and outreach supervisor, devotional chanting facilitator, and ultimately one of the 10 who were appointed Tree of Life spiritual teachers during six years of study under Gabriel Cousens, M.D.
  • Michael Bedar has presented at the International Congress of Gesture: The Living Media, the New Life Expo in New York, the Conscious Life Expo and Film Festival in Los Angeles, the Raw Spirit Festival, the Coalessence Fest, Raw Union, and the Raw Health Expo in Santa Rosa. Bedar also co-chairs the Joy of Learning Center, a California 501(c)3 nonprofit in San Rafael. He is co-facilitator of the San Rafael chapter of the Project to End Disease (TPED), is a member of The Village Network, and teaches Sprouting for Life Plus Savory Raw Salad Dressings, and other classes at the Sunrise Center.
  • Bedar offers a wealth of experience and live-food nutritional knowledge. He convened, with regional partners, the New Beginnings Council of community organizers for the East Bay Movement to Reverse Type-II Diabetes Naturally in Emeryville. Currently, Bedar is developing a community organization to spread the experience of wellness in the Bay Area through story, film, and events, which is known as Eat-Reel: The New Beginnings Project. About this meetup:

I’ve been on a raw food diet for a few years now. Since I've started this meetup I have been on a raw food diet pretty much exclusively- I know that there are those who want to embark on this diet, and those who have been doing it for awhile who can benefit from getting together once in a while for some practical reasons: lending support, sharing experience, recipes, and here’s the thing that motivated me to do this – creating a co-op to buy in enough bulk to reduce the cost of a raw food diet. If we get together we can reduce the cost- and help make a raw food lifestyle a viable choice.

It was an outstanding, inspirational movie; something everyone should see! The discussion afterward, led by one of the films producers, Michael Bedar, added a lot of valuable information to the film's message.
