  • May 23, 2010 · 4:00 PM
  • Downtown Oakland

Markus Rothkranz is coming to town and will be speaking at our meetup.
Markus has been spreading his inspiring message about raw foods through media (his You Tube video has had over 170,000) and through speaking to standing room only crowds. He just released a documentary about free food and medicine. He has been traveling internationally for speaking events and is the nutritional consultant to the national guard. Very important: Doors will open at 4 p.m. so people can come and have some of Raw Daddy’s cones. Markus will be speaking at 5 p.m. sharp. So please get there as early as possible. There will be no fee for this event but bring some money for cones and Markus will have some stuff for sale too

  • Raw Daddy will be there offering his cones at $5 a cone- These are all raw cones made out of flax seed and they are filled with his savory and sweet creations. He is also offering
Just the cones (without the filling): 4 for $5 each so people can go home and make their own.
Here's the link to see what he'll be offering http://www.rawdaddyfo...

(Raw Daddy is now at the Palo Alto http://urbanvillageon...
and Los Altos Farmer's Market http://urbanvillageon...
and looking for others to join.

  • The venue is large, so at this point we haven't limited attendance. But we're told that Markus attracts a crowd so signing up early isn't a bad idea. Laurie Cooperman, has generously offered her venue again for the afternoon/evening. Here are further instructions about finding the space. It's the entrance that has the mosaic tiles around it. Go directly up the stairs and turn into the room on the left right at the top of the stairs (we have an elevator available from a different entrance on 22nd St. if anybody will need assistance getting up the stairs). We're just a block from BART....take the 17th St. Station but get off at the 20th/Broadway exit from the station. That puts you right near the Paramount Theater and we're a block and a half up from there.
  • Please RSVP only if you are sure you will be attending. Raw Daddy will be bringing cones based on the amount of people we are expecting.

This was an incredible experience! Fantastic presentation by Markus. He inspired me to go looking for food in my back yard and neighborhood. I am so curious to see what is growing wild. As for the food- the cones were all amazing. I tried one of each as this was my first time and I loved them all. I think the Spicy Thai was my favorite but it was a close call. I wish I could find these cones growing in my backyard! I met old friends and made new ones and had a wonderful time. I can't wait for the next event. Thanks to everyone who put this together. Great job!

This was the most amazing and inspirational speech I have ever heard in my entire life. I wasn't sure before, but now I'm positive that I'm really going all the way with raw food. Sometime soon I'll be eating no cooked foods at all, with a large portion of weeds and greens in my diet and cleansing in the way that Markus so shamelessly describes. Markus is truly enlightened, funny, charming, intelligent, educated and amazing to be around. Let us all become like that in our own ways!

I was not sure what to expect, and prepared to leave early if not interested. Stayed til the very end, because I had to get the videos and give Markus a big squeeze! He was funny, knowledgable and entertaining. I will start watching the videos today. I am totally motivated to learn more about wild edibles in my area.

Markus was great. I like his approach to raw food as being accessible to everyone and his willingness to share what he knows. So many will benefit from his research and knowledge.

Markus was very inspiring- his journey and what he's learned along the way is unique and we're so luck to have had him. He's already sparked a couple of meetups which we should set in motion soon.

    Markus delivered!
What a great talk - for content, engagement and answering all sorts of questions.
He showed us he is an inspiring and committed speaker who has knowledge and information to share - and he shares it without fear or favor!
The world and humanity need Markus, and for his message to be heard and acted upon.
I can hardly wait to look at his video.
    Well done, Markus!

Oh, James (RawDaddy) will also serving one of his famous dessert cones at the meetup today. Don't miss it!

The building is only a block from BART so that's my suggestion. If there is nothing special going on downtown parking should be a piece of cake too. I'm not aware of any event other than this one in our area tomorrow, but you never know.....

It's in the middle of the business district and it's Sunday, so I don't think there'll be much difficulty to find parking.

What is parking like in this area? Trying to decide whether to drive or BART...thanks!

Do we know, yet, which fillings Raw Daddy is going to bring? I loved his food the last time and will definitely leave room for a couple of his cones - YUM

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
