Oakland Chamber Young Professionals (OCYP) is a service oriented professional development group. OCYP serves as a peer resource network to empower, engage, and advance Oakland’s young professionals under the age of 40.
This group serves as a committee under the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Young Professional networks have become an emerging trend among business organizations as the younger generation of employees in the workplace are looking for career growth, community engagement, and opportunities to build their peer network.
The Chamber can benefit from OCYP because it will serve as another member benefit for current members who have younger employees that are looking to get involved in Oakland and the business community, but may not want to attend regular Chamber events due to lack of interest or intimidation. OCYP can provide leads for prospective members, extra revenue from events, and enhance Oakland’s younger professionals, who are the future of our city.
In order to be elected onto the steering committee, you must be a Chamber member between the ages of 21-40 years old.
Non-Chamber members can attend events for a minimal fee, however they cannot be elected onto the Steering Committee.
