On January 11 we have an event at the Scottish Owl Centre with renowned nature photographer Dean Bricknell- http://deanbricknellphotography.com/. The workshop is for 8 (minimum)-10 people and does need to be paid for in advance.
The group will split into 2 for morning and afternoon sessions with various birds at the centre on a day when we will be the only visitors as the centre is closed over the winter months. This will give the maximum opportunity to get close to the birds in small numbers.
The main session, with Dean, will involve taking 3 birds into a wooded area for natural portrait shots. At this time the plan is to use a tawny owl, long eared owl and a little owl. Dean would provide instruction and assistance in getting the best images, but also lots of information about the birds themselves. Tripods are essential for this- the light can be low.
The second group will have free access to the birds in the centre with a member of staff who will bring some of the birds out of their cages and put them on perches.
The morning session will run from 9:30 (start at 10:00am) through to 12:30 and the groups will then change over with the overall day finishing at 3:30pm.
Please note that the birds are not flying at this workshop.
Please bring a packed lunch with you- the centre is closed and there are no facilities for food (toilets are available).
If the weather is bad, the workshop may be moved to the 12th.
The cost will be £65 with a minimum of 8 members attending. We need to let Dean and the centre know by 18 December if we are going ahead with this. We will collect £25 non refundable deposits for this on 18 December with the balance due by 8 January.
This should be a great day out, with some fantastic shots of owls available.
