Blind Tasting - Cheap vs Expensive at Janet's house

Hi Folks

My sincere apologies to all of you for the lack of wine events of the past year. ....I have been working long hours on a very intensive and demanding programme ...which fortunately is going into production next weekend  and I will have my life back to socialise again.

Ian Bettison has kindly offered to conduct this tasting at my house. He will be putting together a selection of white and red wines  which we will taste 'blind' (you don't know what you are drinking) .. comparing them on price e.g  a cheap chardonnay with an expensive one. It will be great fun and we will learn a lot in the process.

Cost about £15 ..... but the actual cost will be the cost of the wine divided equally among all attendees.  More details to follow when Ian has sourced the wines.

As with all our wine meetups, it would be great if you can bring some nibbles.

Janet

P.S I will send out my address and mobile no nearer the event

Thanks to everyone for coming along last night and taking part & making it a fun night. I really enjoyed doing the blind tasting and would definitely do a similar evening again. Really enjoyed the wines, and the company and banter were excellent. Thank you to everyone for turning up, it was good that no one cancelled.

Great wine, great people, great ambiance. The fun competition was a real hit and thanks to Janet and Ian for being such good hosts. I even learnt the odd thug or two but after the fourth wine they all tasted the same to a philistine like me

    Hi there

I've got a cold and no sense of smell! So probably better if I don't come, and hopefully someone who might appreciate the aroma of wine can take my place!

  • Ruth

Yes thanks. I still hope to be there.

Was about to confirm but think this is going to clash with a business trip. Very disappointed as i love my wines so much.

    February 21, 2014

  • Ian

The format for this will be a partially blind tasting. You will taste some wines and try and guess where the wines comes from and sometimes what it is. Also, you will get to decide which of two similar varietals you prefer. There might even be prizes for the best guesses, original tasting notes and for making me laugh the most. And yes I am open to bribes.

Please note, given the cost might be closer to £20 each, can I ask you all to confirm now whether you are going to attend and not cancel at the last minute. It is horribly unfair and very rude for so many people to drop out on the day leaving those who turn up to pay a higher contribution.

Drew and I are definitely coming along.
