DLPR-Edinburgh -Sunday run at The Meadows

What is your running goal?

Want to run a 5k? a 10K?... a half-marathon? ... or a full marathon?

Can you imagine yourself running in a 10k event or in the Edinburgh half-marathon/full marathon next year with all the crowds cheering you on??

Well, if you want to achieve any of these targets, in a social and supportive atmosphere, this running group is for you.  Many of our members (first time runners) have already broken through the 5k and 10k thresholds in training and one or two have a half marathon or full marathon as their goals in 2014.

The ethos of the group is one of healthy socialising, support, and encouragement.
Everyone is welcome - from beginners to 'park-run' enthusiasts to seasoned marathon runners.  The run on Sundays is as much about the coffee and chat afterwards as it is about the run itself! With regular attendance you will see improvements in your performance and you will achieve that goal you've set yourself!
If you don't believe this, come and chat to our members - they will inspire you!

The plan is to meet at the Pavilion Cafe (green buildings in the park along Melville Drive) between 11am-11.15am.  We leave at 11.15 promptly and the session takes about 45-60 mins.  As it is open to ALL runners of varying ability it is hoped that runners of different levels will pair up and run together so that nobody runs alone.  Because we do laps of the park, nobody (theoretically) should get lost or be too far from another group member.

There is no expense to this event except the price of a cup of coffee.
Robert (the host) is an experienced runner (all distances) and gets his kicks out of seeing others exceed their running expectations.  Want to meet (and then exceed) yours?

The first step is the hardest! -but that first step can be made much easier by joining us on this social run on Sundays.

What does DLPR stand for?  Come along and find out!

See you on Sunday :-)

Following discussion at the last few runs... I've looked up a couple of 'possible' road runs/races that people may be interested in:

    1. Bupa Great Edinburgh 10 Mile run
    27th April 2014
£25 Registration fee - for the more ambitious.

    2. EMF 10km run
    24th May 2014
£25 approx Registration fee - very do-able for the group.

    3. Cancer Research UK - Race for life
    15th June[masked]Km run (or a 5Km run)
Either run = £15 Entry fee.

All runs still have places open.
I think most people (barring illness etc) should aim for the EMF 10Km. We can run the route a few times before the race day so that you are confident that you can do it. The atmosphere will be great on the day!

    Rob :-)

Hi Lucy... Yes, Lets set off at 11am. That way most people can do an extra lap (if they want to).
A lap takes the group about 15 mins or less.
