Muttart Conservatory

The Muttart Conservatory web page describes the Chinese New Year exhibit January 12 – February 24, 2013 as “a unique collaboration between the Conservatory and the Chinese Gardening Society. It features a variety of significant flowers such as: Crysanthemums, Azaleas, Celosia, Cyclamen, Bromeliads, Camellias and Orchids.”
2013 is the Year of the Snake and will officially start on the first day of the New Year containing a new moon. This festival will end 14 days later with a Lantern Festival. In Chinese astrology, the Snake symbolizes yin (feminine) energy, luck and passion."

Great chance to practice new skills. No rush so had the camera on complete manual (including MF) for most of the time. Also met some new members. Unfortunately had to leave early so didn't get as much time to socialize as I would've liked.

Was the best way to spend a Friday for sure...now I see hours of editing and playing ahead. Nice to see so many like minds and meet new people.

Only if it's not too busy. The pathways are narrow in quite a few spots so if people need to get by, it makes it challenging for both them and the photographer. If that's the case, it's better to collapse the tripod and make it into a monopod.

Managed to get five days work done in four days so I will be attending...can anyone tell me if they allow tripods?

Regular admission is $12 +gst. I do have a couple of "buy one get one 1/2" admission coupons, so the first 3 people who come with $9.50 in exact change can take advantage of a slight discount.

I also have 2 of those coupons so will add mine into the group...same deal as Kaye...

I'd love to join you guys but will be working there. Hopefully I'll get to see some of you and chat for a bit. The temperate pyramid is just coming in to growth now and there should be some stuff there for you to snap photos of.
