Demystifying the MANUAL MODE for DSLR users

I HAVE TO PUT IN A DATE WHEN POSTING BUT THE DATE MAY AND WILL LIKELY CHANGE BUT IT WILL BE MID TO LATE OCTOBER DEPENDING UPON MY SCHEDULE.

I held this workshop earlier and the feedback was positive so I thought I would hold it again if there is enough interest.

We would meet at the TENNIS COURT parking lot in Rundle park to take a walk on the path to MANUAL MODE for DSLR users

We will venture into the world of shutter speed, ISO/ASA. f-stop, shutter priority, single focus point, Perfect Exposure, Perfect Picture, film speed/sensor sensitivity, aperture priority, evaluative metering, <>*&^%$.

We will take time to discuss the above and then go for a walk and put it into practice.

What each person must know

As every camera is different each individual will have to know how to switch their camera to manual, aperture and shutter priority modes. They will also have to know how to change their ISO speed, shutter and aperture setting. Yup, you will have to read your manual. :)

What to bring

Bring a hat, picnic lunch, hopefully some sunscreen and be ready to enjoy the day. Oh Yea, don’t forget your camera, fully charged battery and yes, your manual.

Hope to see you there!

What a breathe of fresh air this gathering was, albeit cold! I second W Saunders comments. I learnt more from chalk notes on a cement path then from a chalkboard. Was I really the only attendee with a Pentax? Wish I did not have to leave so early but the pics I took of my family at the Bon Accord Pumpkin Patch were worth it.

That was great! Learned more in two hours than I learned by taking a couple of photo courses. Really encouraged to get out there and try out what I learned. Thanks to all who helped out us newbies.

Incredibly helpful in learning how to get out of AUTO mode - reading about this stuff online doesnt have nearly the impact that being in a group with numerous "helpers" has!

    October 19, 2013

    • Marshall

Down the hill all the way down from the rundle park golf course and the tennis court is on your left side....take your time driving down the hill though...very bumpy!!

Hello. I'm interested in this event and would love to come. I'm fairly new to using the manual mode on my camera. I do have two quick questions about the membership fee for 2013. Is it still $10 even thought it is now October and would I be able to pay it to you in person? Thanks!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
