There was a request for an extension so I have extended the deadline to Sunday, Aug. 3 midnight. Then I will have to send the link to the Carrot for their panel of judges to review.

I have a question, do you have to enter 5 photos or could it just be one or two if you wanted?

You are allowed to submit a max of 5, so 1-5 images

The theme "“Think Big Thoughts but Relish Small Pleasures”- H. Jackson Brown Jr. was chosen because Kaleido's theme this year is "Relish" so we wanted to connect our exhibition to Kaleido's theme. You can interpret this quote any way you want. Be creative and have fun! Some things to note when you are choosing your submissions: it must be family friendly, and the Carrot has asked for NO Canadian Wildlife. They also suggested that landscapes & sunsets don't generally do well in sales. However, if you have a unique landscape or sunset photo that you want to submit, it does not hurt to try.

We did not set a restriction on when the photo was taken, so you are allowed to dig into your archives. However, we do want to encourage everyone to shoot new work because that's just more fun to do, and it is more representative of your current abilities.

I think that's good advice. I photograph what I see and don't generally try to create images to fit a theme. So I find this quite hard.

I was reading an article written by a "Pro" photographer who wrote that he was involved in many photo contest judging committees where he was baffled by the judges' decisions. His advice was never to shoot for a photo contest. Shoot what you love and submit. You just never know what they are looking for.
