Night Photography

Over the Christmas holiday, I was thinking of doing some night shots at the Alberta Legislative building. With the Christmas lights up it should make for some fantastic pictures. After we can walk over to the Hi Level bridge for night shots of the bridge and car light trails. From the walkway we should be able to get a nice elevated view of river valley road.

You will require a tripod, remote release, if you don't have a remote release you can use your self timer. I find a small flashlight comes in handy. As for lens I like a wide angle or a zoom[masked] mm. Dress warm as it could be cold.

It would be appreciated that photos taken during a meetup be placed in the albums of our club as well as on your own web page. Many of our members are not part of Facebook or other social media sites and we appreciate it when members share their photos with other members of the club. Thanks

To view your right to comment you need to join. However, the point is that it is a club event and it would be nice to support the club by posting photos within the club albums. In some cases we are allowed into venues as a club and in return we indicate to them that they will have access to the photos (e.g. Luminaria that was just held) through the club.

Sorry for missing this...I was talking about going to this only just a little while ago, but I messed up the date. I thought it was tomorrow night! I would love to go to a beautiful location like this, too!

Sadly won't be going now. I somehow hurt my back and really can't stand for long times. Hope you all have fun and take some great pics.

Looks like it is going to be a nice evening. Just a reminder to dress warm and to charge your batteries.

I spent 3hrs at Blackfoot Provincial Park a few weeks ago doing those light orbs, and it was about the same temp as predicted for tomorrow. I dressed warm and was absolutely fine: layers, winter boots, snow pants, and my most favourite saving grace--hand warmers. I HIGHLY recommend picking some up at Canadian Tire if your fingers are prone to freezing quickly:

They have toe warmers, too. These things are amazing. And claim to be non-toxic and environmentally friendly.

    See you all tomorrow!

I have a question about dues. Do I have to pay them before I can attend any of the walks or can I come out and try one out before paying? Either way I'm good I just wanted to make sure. Also is the only way to pay by online or can I give cash to someone? Thanks.

    December 28, 2012

You can pay online or give cash to Laurice.

Not sure right now but might be still entertaining family on Saturday with another Xmas supper.

Is this still going on? We are still expected to hit low temps that night.

It looks like this cold weather is going to break. A hi of -4 and a low of -10 on sat ( heat wave :)). I would recommend that you still dress warm, as there will be a lot of standing. Exposures can be any were from 10 seconds to 1 minute depending on the light.

Looks like the weather is suppose to break. Even though the dome of the Leg is covered, the lights for Christmas are up. IF not then we can raid a pub :) I will bring a pocket of Shutter-Bugs buttons for anyone who would like one. They are a loonie each. Cheers

The dome cover is probably staying for a while. Don't get your hopes up for this meet up date.

I think 5:00 is a little early. Some people may have to work on saturday, or have plans during the day.So lets make it 5:30-5:45. And maybe we can all go for a holiday drink afterwards.

    December 11, 2012

    • Raymond

If you go for drinks first then standing out in the cold might not be that bad LOL
