August Book of the Month: Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls by David Sedaris

Amazon's best book of the month for April 2013, David Sedaris' latest book continues his tradition of observational humor based on his dysfunctional family life and experiences.

From the washington post:

A guy walks into a bar car and...

From here the story could take many turns. When this guy is David Sedaris, the possibilities are endless, but the result is always the same: he will both delight you with twists of humor and intelligence and leave you deeply moved.

Sedaris remembers his father's dinnertime attire (shirtsleeves and underpants), his first colonoscopy (remarkably pleasant), and the time he considered buying the skeleton of a murdered Pygmy.

With Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls, David Sedaris shows once again why his work has been called "hilarious, elegant, and surprisingly moving

Sorry to change RSVP so late - the day got too busy. I listened to the book on audio, read by the author. Lots of laughs. Loved it.

This will be my first meeting. For whatever reason I'm nervous, even thought about changing my RSVP. But I will be there.

I think I'm going to go! How much of the book have you guys read already? I'd have to get moving today and get on it if I do! How is the book? Worth it?

Saw this link to an interview the author did a few months ago on NPR related to this book..hope the link works, because I have to say, I like him a whole lot better after hearing this...the book alone wouldn't have left me with the same impression! NPR Interview April 25th, 2013…
