Breaking news! Ashley will be providing tunes, both spooky and not. Sarah will be bringing a piñata (pinata, Meetup doesn't always handle special characters well), and everything needed to give it a whack! I have reports that bobbing for apples is the party version of waterboarding so I think we'll skip that one.
Pumpkin carving! Potluck dinner! Costumes! Corpse Bride (movie)!
Starting evening off with pumpkin carving (6) followed by potluck dinner (7ish), pinata games, maybe a costume contest, and then Corpse Bride(9ish). Here's IMDB for the movie:
I will provide some pumpkins, however my suitable for pumpkin carving knife supply is quite limited so please INDICATE IN YOUR COMMENTS IF YOU WANT TO CARVE and bring some carving gear (or have very sharp and strong fingernails.
We're having a green Halloween so please bring your own eating and drinking instruments. There is couch space for about 8-10 but the rest will need to choose between sitting in regular chairs or bringing your own pillows or comfort devices.
Please indicate in your RSVP what spookiness you will bring to eat and drink. There is a kitchen there with range, oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer and sink. We will have adult beverages at this event. Please drink responsibly and plan a safe ride home.
Chad will be prioviding a smoke machine for your haunted pleasure and we will arrange spooky lighting. --
Still need some help organizing, specifically someone to
--organize bobbing for apples or some kind of game.
--be DJ, choose and play appropriately themed music. Bring music and player or bring dvd player to connect to TV to play through speakers (have never been able to get the one in there to work). This is ambiance music, not dance music. We want to converse here, not shout.
--and of course we need everyone to pitch in just a small hand to clean up afterward.
Please get in touch to volunteer.
Here's the Google map to get there. Please park in designated guest areas. Parking is limited so I encourage people to carpool. There is also street parking just south of 18th and Arthur which is only a short walk away. Here's the sign you'll see from the street entering the driveway leading to the room:
Here's the location of the community room from the sky:
Here's the inside of the room which you can imagine decked out with lights and smoke effects, and full of fabulously costumed people and delicious eats.
